REQUEST OF THE GOVERNMENT OF BARBADOS FOR ADMISSION IN THE PAN AMERICAN HEALTH ORGANIZATION
The Director submitted to the 56th Meeting of the Executive Committee the attached Document CE56/18 in which he reported that the Permanent
Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs of Barbados had applied on 5 April 1967, on behalf of his Government, for Membership in the Pan American Health Organization.
After considering the information contained in the above-mentioned document the Executive Committee unanimously adopted the following
RESOLUTION II
"THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE,
Having examined the application of the Government of Barbados for Membership in the Pan American Health Organization, contained in a letter dated 5 April 1967 from Mr. F.L. Cozier, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, to the Director of the Pan American Sanitary Bureau,
RESOLVES:
1. To take note of the application of the Government of Barbados for Membership in the Pan American Health Organization, which it instructs the Director of the Pan American Sanitary Bureau to transmit to the Directing Council.
2. To recommend to the Directing Council that it give favorable consideration to the application of the Government
of Barbados for Membership in the Pan American Health Organization."
It should be pointed out that on 24 April 1967 the Government of Barbados deposited with the Secretary General of the United Nations, an
instrument of acceptance of the Constitution of the World Health Organization, as a result of which it became a full Member of that Organization.

In conformity with the resolution adopted by the Executive Committee, the Director has the honor to submit to the Directing Council the request of the Government of Barbados for Membership in the Pan American Health

REUEST OF THE GOVERNMENT OF BARBADOS FOR ADMISSION IN THE PAN AMERICAN HEALTH ORGANIZATION
On 5 April 1967 His Excellency, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs of Barbados, Mr. F.L. Cozier, sent the Director of the Pan American Sanitary Bureau the following letter:
"Sir,
I have the honour to apply, on behalf of the Government
of Barbados, for membership in the Pan American Health Organisation under Article 2A of the Constitution of the Organisation.
2. Barbados became an Independent State as from midnight 29/30 November, 1966, and became a member of the United Nations on the 9th of December, 1966. Accordingly, Barbados now wishes to become a full member in her own right.
3. The Government of Barbados is willing and prepared to fulfil the financial obligations imposed on members in accord-ance with the Constitution of the Pan American Organisation, to comply with the provisions of the Pan American Sanitary Codes as amended by the additional Protocol of 1952, and to co-operate fully with the other Member States in the work of the Organisation.
4. Accept, Sir, the assurances of my highest consideration.

The Director sent this letter to all Governments of the Organization, informing them that the application of Barbados would be examined at the
56th Meeting of the Executive Committee.
The Pan American Sanitary Bureau has also been informed that the Government of Barbados has applied for membership in the World Health Organization.
The Director has the honor to submit to the Executive Committee, for its consideration and further action, the application of the Government of Barbados for membership in the Pan American Health Organization.
