With the aim to adapt the Journal of the Brazilian Society of Tropical Medicine to the necessary requirements for the adoption of PubMed Central’s Markup system (XML-SciELO), we support changes in the instructions to authors, especially in the minimum quality required for authors in the submission of igures. From the next issue (July-August), these igures should be at least 600dpi, preferably between 900-1200dpi.
The Journal of the Brazilian Society of Tropical Medicine’s instructions to authors are available on the following websites: http://www.scielo.br/revistas/rsbmt/iinstruc.htm and www.rsbmt.org.br
The XML markup system is used by leading international publications, and the Journal of the Brazilian Society of Tropical Medicine will be among the national journals chosen to adopt this system. This will permit it to improve the display quality of the articles, increasing visibility and access to the journals by the international community and, furthermore, that the iles may be displayed on e-books, tablets, and smartphones, generating iles in different formats.
