Y et another bibliography on C h agas’ d isease m aking a total o f seven known to the reviewer. H o w suprised C arlos Chagas would be if he could see this plethora o f publications. H e might question w hy control m easures have been so laggardly. This bibliography is b a se d o n the medlars (the m edicai analysis and retrieval system ) o f the U nited States N ational Library o f M edicine. A lthough relatively com prehensive as with any reference collection it has its failures. For exam ple this journal is not represented in the publications index neither is K asam era nor the Boletin de la D irección de M alariologia y Saneam iento A m biental. T h e Computer, under expert guidance, has produced a very clear bibliography which is ea sy to use. T he full references are arranged alphabetically under the year o f publication - in total 2 ,4 5 7 citings. The subject index is w ell organised under the major heads o f epidem iology, human d isease and experim ental research. This is follow ed by an author index and a journal index. Still on e o f the m ost important problem s in infectious d isease research is com m unication due to the variety o f languages and sources, m eaning that the entire relevant literature is seldom available to the individual worker. In terms o f C h agas’ disease this bibliography, like its p redecessors, fills an important need. Every researcher interested in C h agas’ disease will need it handy.
