Sobre a idade dos capoeiras da primeira metade dos Oitocentos no Rio de Janeiro, Soares especula que tinham possivelmente entre 18 e 20 anos, lembrando que boa parte dos africanos chegavam nas terras brasileiras entre 12 e 15 anos.
