The Revista da Sociedade Brasileira de Fonoaudiologia (RSBF) has grown in capacity

and quality in the last years, thanks to the enthusiastic participation of Brazilian Speech--Language Pathology and Audiology, and especially of researchers and faculty involved in graduate programs in the area. This journal has become an important foundation of the Brazilian scientific production in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, and a simple historical analysis certainly allows the confirmation of the evolution observed, especially regarding study designs, sample estimates, use of validated instruments, and discussions based on the most recent international findings. The role of the RSBF in the dissemination of the Brazilian scientific production was essential, and there is no recognized graduate program supervisor that has not chosen this journal as the resource to publish his studies.

Life, however, demands us to take painful decisions in order to support the direction towards the achievement of priority goals. Thus, when the proposal of dedicating our efforts to a single publication – the Jornal da Sociedade Brasileira de Fonoaudiologia (JSBFa) – in order to promote its improvement and international indexation (which are also essential to the development of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology in our reality) was announced, the executive board of ABA volunteered to take the responsibility for the publication of this journal. Such attitude revealed the degree of maturity of our science, and is a great example of the true collaborative spirit of the academy.

We are extremely committed to fulfill this process, and ABA is aware that they can count on our support, help, and respect for the greatness of their action. We will definitely contribute with our own manuscripts, sure that we shared in order to multiply, with the aim to obtain more visibility for Brazilian Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.

Much success in the new phase of this journal!
