On t he second sem est er of 2008 a w or ld cr isis show ed up. This has led t o t he decision of not holding t he Sym posium Mat er ia in 2009, w hich pr oved t o be a pr oper decision. Sever al scient ific congr esses scheduled t o be held in 2009 in Lat in Am er ica and in ot her r egions have exper ienced ser ious problem s concer ning t he par t icipat ion of t heir r egular public. Gover nm ent agencies and ent er pr ises t hat usually cont r ibut e t o t hese event s pr esent ed a m or e conser vat ive behav ior . The 2009 Br azilian GNP did not gr ow , such as t hose of ot her count r ies fr om t he cont inent , w her eas Mexico’s GNP pr esent ed significant dr op.
How ever , 2010 pr esent s it self in a w ell differ ent w ay. I n Br azil t her e ar e pr ospect s for a GNP gr owt h of about 6% and a sim ilar sit uat ion is pr esent ed by ot her count r ies of t he cont inent , m ainly Ur uguay and Per u. This w ill lead t he gover nm ent al agencies and t he pr ivat e com panies t o r ecover t heir invest m ent act ions on act ivit ies of science and t echnology , including t he or ganizat ion of congr esses.
