N
ur sing has becom e m or e pr om inent am ong t he healt h sciences day by day due t o t he pr oduct ion of clinical and basic r esear ch t hat est ablish t he scient ific base for t he individual and fam ily car e dur ing all phases of life. This pr oduct ion has gained visibilit y bot h w it hin societ y and academ ia by m eans of published ar t icles in scient ific j our nals issued all ar ound t he w or ld.I n 2006 t he field had posit ive exam ples of r ecognit ion fr om im por t ant indexing bases, w hich unt il t hen, r eserved lit t le space t o nur sing j our nals. The I nt er nat ional Scient ific I ndex ( I SI ) developed an exclusive cat egor y for nur sing per iodicals in t he sect ion Science Cit at ion I ndex Ex panded® in t he Web of Science and ex panded t he cov er age of nur sing per iodicals t o 61 index ed nur sing per iodicals in t he Web of Science® - com ponent of t he I SI Web of Know ledge. This was r eally a gr eat achievem ent t o t he w or ld of nur sing. How ever, t her e is st ill pr edom inance of Anglo- Saxon j our nals and none of t he Lat in Am er ican j our nals was included so far, not even t hose fr om Br azil w her e t her e ar e about 4 0 nur sing per iodicals. Sev er al of t hem ar e alr eady included in t he Medline because of t heir good edit or ial qualit y and r elev ance of t he published r esear ch.
