Amiddle-agedmancomplainedofsymptomaticorallesions.

FamilyhistorywaspositiveforFanconianemia(FA).An

intra-oral examination revealed generalized erythroleukoplakia

with focal ulcerations affecting the palate (Figure 1).

Dif-ferentialdiagnosisincludedlichenoidlesions,dysplasiaand

squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). Previous biopsies

demon-stratedmildtomoderatedysplasia.Thepatientunderwent

genetictestingandwasdiagnosedwithFA.

FA is an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by

physicalabnormalities,bone marrow failureand

predispo-sitiontohematologicandsolidmalignancies.1Oralfindings

associatedwithFAincludemucosallesions,periodontal

dis-ease and dental anomalies.2 FA patients are considered

high-riskfororalSCC.3
