 Main Investigator in the project ´Music Education in context in search of a new praxis´ (funded by FCT – POCTI/1999/CED/34477) already completed. Several papers with preliminary and final findings of this project have been presented at international conferences, and a number of papers have been published in national and international journals.

 Author of the project´Personal narratives in the construction of a musical career a case study´ at the Escola Calouste Gulbenkian in Braga. This project is complete and a book chapter has been written, submitted and accepted for publication in the book "Narrative Soundings: An anthology of narrative inquiry in music education", edited by Margaret Barrett and Sandra L. Stauffer (Springer).

 Author of the project "Composing with Hyperscore in general music classes: an exploratory study" with the support of Casa da Música. This project has been presented in the Conference "International Symposium on Performance Science" held at Casa da Música in November 2007, and published in the Proceedings edited by Aaron williamon and Daniela Coimbra.

 Main Investigator in the project ´The construction of the musical identity of young Portuguese – a cultural perspective´ (funded by FCT – POCTI/CED/60609/2004) already completed. The results of this project are published in the book edited by Editora Afrontamento "

 Crescer nas Bandas Filarmónicas um estudo sobre a identidade musical de Jovens Portugueses".

 Main Investigator in the project ‘Music and Drama in Primary School – the Madeira Island case’ (funded by FCT PTDC/CED/72112/2006 em colaboração com o CIIE, Centro de Investigação e Intervenção Educativas da FPCEUP) already completed. Several papers with preliminary and final findings of this project have been presented at international conferences, and a number of papers have been submitted to national and international journals and are waiting publication after the proposed revisions have been completed.

 Main Investigator in the project ‘Promoting social inclusion through engagement with music – the project Orquestra Geração' (funded FCT PTDC/CPECED/ 120596/2010) completed in september 2015. This project gave rise to the recent publication of a book (2017) coedit with João Teixeira Lopes of the Porto University (institute of Sociology).

 Main Investigator within the protocol established between the Educational Department of Casa da Música and the CIPEM/INETmd.
