1) Nos experimentos controle com amostra de água reagente semeados artificialmente com cistos de Giardia spp. e oocistos de Cryptosporidium spp., a metodologia de FM apresentou valores maiores de recuperação dos organismos, quando comparada com a metodologia de FCC: 21,5 % dos oocistos e 25,0 % dos cistos quando utilizada FM e, 5,3 % e 5,8 % dos oocistos e cistos, respectivamente quando empregada FCC.

2) Nestas amostras de água reagente, a inclusão da etapa de purificação por separação imunomagnética (IMS) não resultou em uma melhora quando aplicada à metodologia de FM e à metodologia de FCC.

3) Nos experimentos controles realizados com amostras de água natural, na média, a metodologia de FCC apresentou melhor desempenho em recuperar cistos: 36,1 %, sendo que a aplicação da separação imunomagnética (IMS) acarretou melhora significativa.

4) A adição da separação imunomagnética (IMS) na etapa de purificação acarretou uma maior eficiência de recuperação de cistos de Giardia spp. e oocistos de Cryptosporidium spp., para as duas metodologias de concentração, quando avaliada amostras de água bruta superficial do rio Atibaia em condições de turbidez < 50 NTU: aumento de 17,0 % para

57,0 % na recuperação de cistos e de 29,0 % para 41,5 % para oocistos quando empregada a FM. Quando utilizada a FCC houve um acréscimo de 40,5 % para 60,5 % na recuperação de cistos e de 33,0 % para 39,5 % dos oocistos.

5) Quando as amostras apresentaram turbidez > 50 NTU, o aumento nos valores de recuperação foi observado apenas com a metodologia de FM e para a recuperação de oocistos de Cryptosporidium spp.: de 35,0 % para 52,0 %.

6) As duas metodologias de concentração avaliadas, FM e FCC, mostraram-se eficientes e aplicáveis em detectar a presença de oocistos de Cryptosporidium e cistos de Giardia em amostras de água bruta superficial do rio Atibaia. Porém, a FM é indicada pela praticidade, tempo, e resultados.
