I n an at t em pt t o m aint ain t he high edit orial level it has conquered, in t he first sem est er of 2006, RLAE w ill m ove t o an elect r onic m anuscr ipt subm ission, analy sis and publicat ion syst em . The use of t echnologies t o provide a m ore agile dissem inat ion of scient ific research result s is a global t endency, and has been adopt ed by per iodicals in line w it h t he dem ands posed by t he age of k now ledge. This sy st em pr ov ides ot her benefit s t o au t h or s, su ch as t h e possibilit y t o follow t h e st at u s of t h eir m an u scr ipt fr om t h e in it ial r eceipt t o t h e fin al publicat ion, using a user nam e and passw or d. The differ ent st eps of t he Edit or ial Boar d ev aluat ion and peer r ev iew pr ocess w ill also becom e fully elect r onic. Rev iew er s w ill hav e access t o t he m anuscr ipt s t hey r ev iew ed and t he r espect iv e deadlines. Fur t her m or e, t he adm inist r at iv e- financial m anagem ent of RLAE w ill be included in t he sam e syst em , wit h a view t o providing and m aint aining high- qualit y services and relat ions wit h aut hors, subscr iber s, r ev iew er s, funding agencies and ot her par t ner s.
I n 2006, RLAE will work hard t o m ake it s scient ific and edit ing qualit y even bet t er. The m ain challenges ah ead ar e a w ider dissem in at ion in Lat in Am er ica an d Por t u gu ese- speak in g cou n t r ies ar ou n d t h e w or ld; an increase in t he num ber of int ernat ional art icles, m aint enance of RLAE in current dat abases and inclusion in new int er nat ional dat abases, as w ell as in t he ScieLO Collect ion Br azil( 4- 5).
