4.1.2.2 Características Avançadas sobre o Trabalho Remoto
Para fins de levantamento de características avançadas, foi utilizado como parâmetro o artigo de Menezes e Kelliher (2011). O texto foi citado por 87 pessoas de acordo com o
Google Scholar® até 12 de maio de 2017.
As autoras realizam uma criteriosa revisão sistemática da literatura sobre arranjos de trabalho flexíveis (FWA) e os seus vínculos com vários indicadores diretos e indiretos de desempenho, a fim de permitir avaliar a oportunidade de uma organização oferecer um regime de trabalho flexível. Como é sabido, as revisões sistemáticas diferem das análises narrativas tradicionais, pois utilizam um processo replicável, científico e transparente, a fim de minimizar o viés interpretativo.
O artigo de Menezes e Kelliher (2011) inclui em sua revisão, especificamente, arranjos flexíveis que envolvam funcionários que trabalham remotamente (telework), ou em momentos que diferem das horas padrão para o ambiente laboral (flextime).
De acordo com as autoras, a literatura existente pode ser classificada em diversas categorias. Primeiro, há um corpo de literatura que explora a associação entre arranjos de trabalho flexíveis (FWA) e alguma medida de desempenho organizacional (o que se convencionou neste estudo chamar apenas de desempenho organizacional). Em segundo
lugar, há pesquisas que examinam a ligação entre FWA e desempenho individual do funcionário (o que se convencionou chamar aqui de desempenho individual).
Além disto, haveria uma categoria de estudos que investigam a associação entre FWA e resultados atitudinais/comportamentais – que não seriam de interesse direto desta pesquisa que ora se conduz.
Outra categoria de estudos relaciona o fluxo de trabalho com a saúde geral, o bem- estar e a qualidade de vida dos trabalhadores – que ora se convencionou chamar, com base na terminologia utilizada pelos próprios artigos, de estudos work-life balance (WLB).
Finalmente, escassos estudos consideraram indistintamente ligações diretas e indiretas com desempenho e outros fatores contingenciais.
Para os fins desta pesquisa, utilizou-se três principais categorias identificadas por Menezes e Kelliher (2011), quais sejam as ênfases do artigo em: (a) desempenho organizacional; (b) desempenho individual ou (c) WLB (equilíbrio entre trabalho e vida pessoal – work-life balance).
Da leitura do texto integral dos quarenta e quatro artigos esta pesquisadora realizou o enquadramento conforme o quadro a seguir. Salienta-se que a análise do enquadramento guarda certo grau de subjetividade, eis que influenciada pelas percepções e valores da pesquisadora.
Dentre os 44 artigos, 25 foram classificados na terceira categoria, qual seja: artigos que relacionam o fluxo de trabalho com a saúde, bem-estar e a qualidade de vida dos trabalhadores. Isto representa que 56,8% dos artigos selecionados preocupa-se com a questão do equilíbrio entre vida pessoal e profissional e as implicações disto no trabalho.
A tabela abaixo resume os enquadramentos e apresenta o ano de publicação e o número de citações de cada artigo levantado no mês de abril de 2017.
