5. Rumos propostos para futuras investigações
Pelas vozes dos/as idosos/as, as experiências que tiveram de abordagem da sua saúde sexual com o profissional de saúde parecem ser centradas, em exclusivo numa dimensão biológica, segundo uma perspetiva biomédica, que não parece dar resposta às necessidades das pessoas idosas, por outro lado como explorado na problemática: médicos/as de família mencionam falta de formação inicial para a abordagem da saúde sexual da pessoa idosa (Alarcão, Ribeiro, Miranda, Carreira, Dias, Costa & Galvão-Teles, 2012), similarmente, os/as enfermeiros/as

identificam a ausência de formação sobre a sexualidade dos/as idosos/as (Nogueira & Vilaça, 2009), assim seria pertinente perceber se é a formação do/a profissional de saúde que limita a sua abordagem.
Por outro lado, o presente estudo incide sobre uma população heterossexual, branca, portuguesa, não institucionalizada, propomos então que estudos futuros versem sobre como idosos/as da comunidade LGBT, de diferentes etnias e culturas e até aqueles que se encontrem institucionalizados tanto a tempo inteiro como parcial vivem e gerem a sua sexualidade e sentem nela o suporte dos profissionais de saúde.
