6 CONSIDERAÇÕES FINAIS E PERSPECTIVAS FUTURAS
Apesar dessa diversidade de produtos oferecidos pelo mercado, o manejo clínico da hipersensibilidade dentinária não deve se restringir a sua aplicação, até porque a instabilidade de ação é percebida em todos eles. Por se tratar de um problema de etiologia multifatorial, deve ser

incluído o controle dos fatores predisponentes identificados durante o exame clínico-anamnésico. Os elementos externos causadores do problema, como a ingestão despercebida de alimentos ácidos, ou a escovação traumática, em pacientes com sensibilidade dentinária, causada por erosão e abrasão, devem ser bem elucidados pelo profissional, que atuará como agente de transformação na saúde de seu paciente. Este, por sua vez, deve estar disposto a assimilar e praticar novas condutas para romper o ciclo de desgaste e sensibilidade dentinária. O tratamento efetivo da hipersensibilidade dentinária, aplicado até então, é aquele conduzido tanto em nível terapêutico, monitorado pelo profissional, como preventivo e de controle, através de atitudes favoráveis na alimentação e higienização dental, executada pelo paciente e estimulada pelo profissional. Quanto à terapia com os agentes dessensibilizantes, há ainda uma limitação de estudos clínicos longitudinais controlados sobre os seus efeitos in vivo. Por isso, o futuro do tratamento da hipersensibilidade dentinária caminha na necessidade de mais estudos sobre os mecanismos intrínsecos da hipersensibilidade, e busca do desenvolvimento de terapias mais eficazes, ou ao menos que demonstrem ação mais duradoura, já que a efetividade em longo prazo é ainda um problema de todas elas.45
